| Stefan brings us a radical design
with the menacing name "Metal Invader"! Stefan
provided the following information with his entry:
Hi Jim,
here is another entry from me for your DOM-Contest.
Its the Metal Invader, a futuristic space ship. As the most of my own
designed rockets, it is not very difficult to build, but I think it looks a little bit
different to many other models.
I know small delta-shaped fins at the bottom and large fins at the top are not very good
for stability. But so the model has an unique look (I hope so) and with a little nose
weight its a stable flyer too.
Heres the parts list:
Body Tube: length 305 mm; 25 mm diameter
Body Tube: length 150 mm; 35 mm diameter
Transition: 35 mm 25 mm
Nose Cone: 35 mm diameter
Nose Weight: 18 grammes
Motor Mount: 18 mm
Launch Lug
Recovery Stuff: Kevlar cord, elastic shock cord, parachute (36cm)
Overall length: 580 mm
Weight: About 80 grammes
Recommended engines: B4-4, C6-3, C6-5
I painted it with metallic shining colours and applied some decals
I have pictures of the finished model and a successful lift-off, a Space-Cad file, a
drawing and the fin and decal patterns for you.
Maybe you like it
