| Jason Toft (the other founder of
the Tour de Deuce
project! (we have quite the rivalry going on here!) presents us with a simple but elegant
13mm cluster model that would make a good introduction into cluster modeling. Jason provided the following information with his entry:
Hi Jim,
I thought I'd provide Eugene with a little competition for this month. (a friendly rivalry
*S*)
The name of this rocket is "Caution: Rocket." It was my first cluster rocket,
and it is a great flier. I flew it at least twice before a fin cracked off and then I
pretty much retired her for a while. Then, upon receipt of your EMK2-13-55 cluster MMT
kit, I decided I would fix her up and make her an active member of my fleet once again. I
posted an EMRR review of her a while back, here's the link:
http://www.rocketreviews.com/reviews/scratch/caution_rocket.html
Now here's a parts list:
BT-55: 9"
Nose Cone from a Black Brant 2, no FK equivalent
Fins: cut from 3/32nd balsa. Trapezoidal.
Root Chord: 2.5"
Span: 2.75"
Tip Chord: 1.0"
Sweep Length: 0.965"
Sweep Angle: 20 degrees
Motor Mount: 2-13mm's (Fliskits MMT kit!)
Nose Weight (from Rsim): 0.2oz
Streamer: 32" of CAUTION tape (very important to the look and feel of this rocket)
Colors: Yellow and black
According to Rocksim, she'll get about 250 feet or so on a pair of mini-motors. A nice
low, slow flier!
Thanks,
Jason |
