This story is a continuation of
the story found on the back of the Borealis kit cover art. Plantetary Press: Jupiter Station - Lt. Spence went on to
say "Although hard to imagine, we have enough storage space on this ship to carry
enough parts and materials to effectively build nearly another ship! Well, except for the
skins which are replicated and woven on site."
With her development and final announcement kept in the strictest secrecy, the Borealis
created quit the stir in the days and weeks leading up to her unveiling at NARCON on
Earth. now common place at shipyards and refining planets, the Borealis class Heavy Hauler
is fulfilling a need we never expected to have.
The growth out in the directions of the Sagittarius Arm has increased steadily as more and
more ships are brought into service. To some this growth is seen as a positive thing.
Others are concerned that the expansionist look of this growth will put our enemies and
allies alike on guard.
In addition to her revolutionary propulsion and massive storage capability, the borealis
houses two standard docking ports for easy station transfer or shuttle access. There is
also a large access bay in the front lower Aurora capsule that leads into the ships main
storage facilities. Housing 2 shuttles and a half dozen tugs, raw materials can be easily
loaded, processed and stored for transport. While not outfitted as a battle ship, the
Borealis does sport several Pulse Cannons and a very effective shield. In the event of a
fire fight, her main goal is to get away as quickly as possible and this she can do as no
other ship in her size class can. Plus her forward mounted cutting aperture is something
you don't want locked onto your ship either!
Material processing labs, power/engineering departments and even a small recreation areas
help to complete the ship. While not a luxury cruiser by any means, the borealis is not
uncomfortable either. |
| The following links
help to further describe the Borealis class Heavy Hauler, its operations and internal
structure. While much of the operation of the Ram-Scoop propulsion unit is still
classified, the other areas of the ship are not and are presented here. It is hoped
that the Planetary Press will be able to keep our readers aware of the ongoing missions of
this exciting new ship!
Keep watch for other links and ships data as it becomes
available.
