The fun begins as the folks que up for safety check
dsc08208.jpg (101735 bytes)
We also had a rather large contingent from BU join us!
dsc08209.jpg (33203 bytes)
Our first attempted launch was a mono-copter type of rocket that did not enjoy the cato of the motor.  Nope, not one bit!  More like a LOT of bits...
dsc08210.jpg (54732 bytes)
B.U. looks out over to HPR pad D for their first launch of many this day
dsc08212.jpg (66041 bytes)
It's fun, sometimes, to just walk around a CMASS launch and look at rockets!
dsc08213.jpg (103079 bytes)
Oh yeah!
dsc08214.jpg (59263 bytes)
Mikes 7-motor C cluster.  Did great until the large fins sheared off!  And she was still stable even after that!
dsc08215.jpg (47277 bytes)
One of several Rhino models to fly.  This one flew a half dozen times on D12 motors (modified for 24mm use) and did GREAT!
dsc08217.jpg (40136 bytes)
Beautiful flights, every one.
dsc08220.jpg (62992 bytes)
One of several Thing-a-ma-Jig models too!
dsc08221.jpg (98850 bytes)
A nice shot overlooking the flight line.  We had over 130 people at one time, today!
dsc08223.jpg (65426 bytes)
Tony's Long OverDue puts in a great flight.
dsc08224.jpg (30475 bytes)
Up and back, simply wonderful!
dsc08226.jpg (30404 bytes)
I think this was Bill's video carrying rocket, but i am not sure.
dsc08227.jpg (56413 bytes)
There goes that Rhino again :)
dsc08228.jpg (22748 bytes)
Gotta love it!
dsc08229.jpg (76170 bytes)
Tony always brings a fun and exciting collection.
dsc08230.jpg (37044 bytes)
B.U. watching another of their launches.  This shot makes me think of "The Rocket Boys" :)
dsc08232.jpg (102958 bytes)
Claude.  Dear, sweet Claude.  We love ya!  Here he is with his Thing-a-ma-Jig and a roll of streamer to make a "St. Louis Arch"
dsc08237.jpg (85931 bytes)
WHOOSH!
good stuff!
dsc08238.jpg (62875 bytes)
Missed the rocket, but there's most of the arch, at the beginning of the flight!
dsc08240.jpg (75175 bytes)
Rhino...
dsc08242.jpg (95907 bytes)
Bill, gettin' dangerous...
dsc08243.jpg (65651 bytes)
Naaaaa.  It worked! :)
dsc08244.jpg (21164 bytes)
Biggest flight of the day!
dsc08245.jpg (29666 bytes)
Dual deploy, drogue-less at appoge
dsc08246.jpg (26726 bytes)
Main's at 400 feet.
dsc08248.jpg (100560 bytes)
This young man flew the snot out of his Frick-n-Frack today!
dsc08249.jpg (101374 bytes)
Scott and friend deep in rocketry discussion
dsc08250.jpg (109115 bytes)
Meanwhile, Tony just "grins and bears it"
dsc08251.jpg (85953 bytes)
FnF getting ready to fly
dsc08252.jpg (91169 bytes)
Picture perfect on a pair of B motors!
dsc08253.jpg (90457 bytes)
There's that naked Thing-a-ma-Jig again!
dsc08254.jpg (20278 bytes)
Gotta love it!
dsc08255.jpg (90776 bytes)
OH!  And a Rose-A-Roc shows her stuff!
dsc08256.jpg (29694 bytes)
We were blessed with a Son Dog today.  Simply beautiful!
dsc08257.jpg (88041 bytes)
Beautiful flight of the Rose-a-Roc.  Deployed blades at apogee for a perfect recovery.  She didn't spin very fast, but that is easily corrected by adjusting the pitch of the blades.
dsc08258.jpg (88185 bytes)
Getting ready for a dad-daughter drag race!
dsc08259.jpg (70437 bytes)
An unrelated drag race of Quest Big Betty's (we do a lot of drag races at CMASS LOL)
dsc08260.jpg (113883 bytes)
Here we go!  US TOG in the fore-ground and a Drake in the background!
dsc08261.jpg (89485 bytes)
Meanwhile, Scott preps his Pumpkin rocket for flight.
dsc08262.jpg (78497 bytes)
Talk about nailing the start of a drag race!  These two got off the pad a the same instant!
dsc08263.jpg (53407 bytes)
And, away we go!
dsc08264.jpg (67568 bytes)
It wouldn't be October without Scott flying his pumpkins!
dsc08265.jpg (88725 bytes)
And, it wouldn't be a CMASS launch, without a Deuce in the air!
dsc08266.jpg (77654 bytes)
I left early today, and this is the last launch shot I was able to get.  The Morning Star in all her glory!
dsc08268.jpg (92840 bytes)
