A good day of flying begins with a Triskelion launch!
dsc08342.jpg (221412 bytes)
How good a day?  The Triskelion suffered a balled up parachute, yet snagged on the barrier flags, saving the fins from a hard impact, just 10 feet from the pad it left from!  Tea, that's a good day of flying!

One of Tony's beautiful birds!
dsc08344.jpg (134987 bytes)
Stunning on the way up...
dsc08345.jpg (42505 bytes)
And on the way down too!

Mike's 7 engine cluster, XRP-7, on 7 C6-7 motors puts in an incredible flight!

Lookit that burn!

An upscale Mosquito gives a thriill!
dsc08349.jpg (44069 bytes)
Picture perfect!
dsc08354.jpg (47012 bytes)
We had several Bull's Eye models today.  Good stuff!
dsc08361.jpg (56701 bytes)
Such a wonderful model!
dsc08362.jpg (121851 bytes)
By the time of our 3rd flight, I counted 80 people
dsc08363.jpg (113181 bytes)
By the middle of the day, I counted over 150!  Women, men, young, old, experienced and novices.  ALL were well represented!
dsc08365.jpg (221991 bytes)
And then there's Scott...  A blanket filled with holiday themed rockets for Thanksgiving and Christmas!  Such fun!
dsc08366.jpg (58792 bytes)
A close up of Santa's Sleigh!
dsc08367.jpg (139844 bytes)
For the first time this season, we're seeing long lines at the RSO table.
dsc08369.jpg (112317 bytes)
But everyone's having a great time!
dsc08370.jpg (104470 bytes)
Nicely finished Mercury Redstone, big one too!
dsc08371.jpg (41129 bytes)
Like something out of Cape Canaveral!  All ready to go.
dsc08372.jpg (82280 bytes)
And we have ignition!
dsc08373.jpg (75164 bytes)
We've cleared the launch tower.
dsc08374.jpg (50650 bytes)
God speed!
dsc08377.jpg (49849 bytes)
Man, that sure is pretty!
dsc08381.jpg (51460 bytes)
Going for outer space!
dsc08382.jpg (120026 bytes)
Meanwhile, the
"Men in Lab Coats" watch their TARC model take to the air.
dsc08384.jpg (104362 bytes)
Mike's V2 on a CTI F85WT.  Man, this thing left the pad quick!  Thank goodness for "burst" mode on my camera! LOL
dsc08385.jpg (75960 bytes)
Caught that sucker THREE times before she left my frame!
dsc08386.jpg (66096 bytes)
There she goes!
dsc08394.jpg (113767 bytes)
It wouldn't be a CMASS launch without a Deuce's Wild charming the crowd!
dsc08395.jpg (58400 bytes)
Good flight!
dsc08396.jpg (209315 bytes)
Almost as much fun as flying is walking the range to see what folks are going to fly!
dsc08397.jpg (201086 bytes)
Good stuff!
dsc08398.jpg (60962 bytes)
Boris' creation was the fattest rocket of the day!
dsc08399.jpg (42507 bytes)
A boost that you could FEEL
dsc08408.jpg (42046 bytes)
Beautiful deployment and return
dsc08409.jpg (75638 bytes)
NAILED IT!  If you look carefully, lower right, you can see the lower section landed on her fins, standing upright, waiting for the nose cone to join.
dsc08411.jpg (190456 bytes)
A perfect example of the family nature of our launches.
dsc08412.jpg (93473 bytes)
A classic (original K-kit) Estes X-Ray gives it a go!
dsc08414.jpg (84399 bytes)
Beautiful Saturn 1B on a D and 4 outboard C motors
dsc08421.jpg (55171 bytes)
If you look closely, you will see that the central D never lit.  In the lower left you can see the clip whip still attached to the igniter!
dsc08422.jpg (60587 bytes)
Yet, she flew great, though to a much lower altitude than expected.
dsc08424.jpg (51255 bytes)
We'll call that a successful mission!
dsc08426.jpg (206786 bytes)
Back at his table, it is clear that he loves scale!
dsc08429.jpg (95038 bytes)
Here we go!  Last launch, this Rose-A-Roc had a beautiful flight and blade deployment, but she didn't spin very well.  No incidence angle was set in the blades, so they were flat against the air stream.
dsc08430.jpg (45682 bytes)
Perfect boost!
dsc08431.jpg (55599 bytes)
Again, good blade deployment, but she kicked her motor (B6-2)!  However, although she was upside down, she spun up to a good speed, for a soft descent, telling us that the incidence angle issue has been resolved.  Now to keep that motor in place!
dsc08432.jpg (63546 bytes)
This is what it looks like when you have a motor blow its nozzle!
dsc08434.jpg (63858 bytes)
A beautiful flight for the Frick-n-Frack!
dsc08441.jpg (76902 bytes)
Moments before staging!
dsc08444.jpg (37693 bytes)
A Frick-n-Frack on the next pad, was up next!  I really thought they were going to drag race!
dsc08452.jpg (74576 bytes)
Another picture perfect flight!
dsc08453.jpg (125074 bytes)
One of Scott's many holiday themed rockets!
dsc08455.jpg (106118 bytes)
Ok, another flight of the Rose-A-Roc!
dsc08456.jpg (66110 bytes)
PROBLEM SOLVED!  Good blade deployment and she retained the motor.  Spun up nicely and seemed to just hang there for the longest time!
dsc08458.jpg (67310 bytes)
She caught good air and drifted WAY down field for a long recovery.  A great RaR flight!  Congrats!
I have family coming up tomorrow (Sunday) so I was unable to stay for the rest of the launch or the night launch.  I hope that many other pictures are posted!

See you at the Winter Follies in January!
