CMASS Winter Follies launch,
January 3rd, Acton, MA
Our first launch
of the year was wonderful! Early weather forecasts had
it in the high 30's with little to no wind. As the day
got closer, the predicted temps got lower and lower and the
wind speed higher and higher...
In the end, the
temps were in the low 30's with a stiff breeze that came and
went. The beauty of it was, with the cold snap we've
been experiencing, this type of weather felt very
comfortable. When the sun would pop out from behind a
cloud, you could even feel its warmth! All in all, a
great day to fly rockets!
didn't bring anything to fly! With the past 2 snow
storms we had well over a foot of snow on the ground and I
just couldn't see chugging through all that snow to recover
rockets... Well, when I got to the field I discovered
two things. One, Acton had much less snow than we did
and, two, most of THAT had been blown away! There were
grassy patches all over the field and what snow was there was
only a couple of inches deep. Nuts!
Still though, it
was fun to socialize, and watch others fly! I had to
leave early and I am sure there are other flights of note that
will appear here and there. In the mean time, enjoy the
photo album and see you folks in April!
