dsc06062.jpg (76309 bytes)
Low sun in the early morning makes for some interesting photo challenges...
dsc06063.jpg (57032 bytes)
We are ready to fly!
dsc06065.jpg (52578 bytes)
We even had some folks skiing with the aid of para-sails
dsc06066.jpg (60382 bytes)
Pretty cool, actually!
dsc06068.jpg (66753 bytes)
Getting ready for an early flight.
dsc06069.jpg (77998 bytes)
Meanwhile, the kids are enjoying the snow!
dsc06070.jpg (75177 bytes)
A rather aggressive game of "Tag, you're it!"
dsc06071.jpg (64636 bytes)
And we have liftoff!
dsc06072.jpg (60908 bytes)
Our biggest problem, today, was the wind!  Even after ;your model landed, you had to contend with the wind as it tried to drag your model across the whole field!
dsc06075.jpg (61442 bytes)
Jim preps his giant mosquito for flight.
dsc06076.jpg (53939 bytes)
Meanwhile, Tony finally got back after chasing his model across the snow.
dsc06078.jpg (35661 bytes)
I missed the launch, but the recovery was real nice!
dsc06079.jpg (56661 bytes)
And, he stuck the landing!
dsc06080.jpg (65105 bytes)
Big Bertha away!
dsc06082.jpg (71112 bytes)
I was actually TOO fast on the shutter for much of today!
dsc06083.jpg (32238 bytes)
We had good chute deployment on most flights, despite the cold air.
dsc06084.jpg (71255 bytes)
An Alpha gives us a show!
dsc06086.jpg (62466 bytes)
But, the Bucky Jones was the prettiest!
dsc06088.jpg (72691 bytes)
Here we have a Trifecta ready to go!
dsc06089.jpg (56937 bytes)
And, go she does!  Only problem, she spit motors instead of separating stages (more friction fitting!) resulting in the bottom 2 stages getting gutted.  The good news is that the fins survived and the repair should be quite simple.
dsc06091.jpg (82720 bytes)
Scott readies his Big Bertha for a drag race with the one on the right.
dsc06092.jpg (78552 bytes)
Nailing the launch!
DSC06092crop.jpg (48158 bytes)
This will give you an idea of how close the launch was.  Looks like Bill got the point here, but just barely!
dsc06093.jpg (66401 bytes)
Some sharp rockets got flown today!
dsc06094.jpg (73968 bytes)
We were also joined by the folks from AMW!
dsc06095.jpg (73821 bytes)
WOOSH!
dsc06096.jpg (72164 bytes)
This, and the next photo, show the small crowd that braved the elements to get some early year flights in.
dsc06097.jpg (72992 bytes)
We weren't crowded, but we did have a very nice turnout.
dsc06098.jpg (79606 bytes)
Bill preps another!
dsc06099.jpg (54155 bytes)
Up, up, and AWAY!
dsc06102.jpg (62857 bytes)
Sharp looking model!
dsc06103.jpg (41256 bytes)
Looks good coming down, too!
dsc06104.jpg (60796 bytes)
A sparky!  We actually got to launch a sparky!
dsc06105.jpg (36893 bytes)
Now, THAT is pretty!
dsc06106.jpg (66583 bytes)
Robert, despite all the warning, decided to lick the sub-zero launch rod...  ...Thank goodness we had sparkies on the field!
dsc06107.jpg (73089 bytes)
Hey, an Avalear made it to the pad!  Kewl!
dsc06110.jpg (65497 bytes)
Great flight too!
dsc06111.jpg (70359 bytes)
The "away cell" got more use than I would have thought.
dsc06112.jpg (81621 bytes)
We even had a small family enjoying the snow along with us!
dsc06114.jpg (75651 bytes)
Tony's Midget puts in a perfect flight on 13mm motors.
dsc06116.jpg (48980 bytes)
Another drag race!
dsc06117.jpg (42521 bytes)
Great returns on this one!
dsc06118.jpg (39130 bytes)
And that one, as well!
dsc06124.jpg (57765 bytes)
Bill's Rhino-plasti (Rhino with a plastic nose cone... - Also, 24mm powered), gave us a great flight.
dsc06125.jpg (66050 bytes)
I think this is Ed's glider.  A powered, she didn't boost very high, but arrow straight.  She ejected her motor upside down and spent her entire glide trying to pull up from the loop only to JUST touch the powder snow at the bottom of the loop for a quick landing!
dsc06126.jpg (56088 bytes)
Our 2nd sparky and the last flight for me as I had to head home.
