My modest booth on this first launch of the season
dsc06319.jpg (89384 bytes)
We now have a VERY impressive line of Micro to the MAXX kits available.  This is only a partial selection!
dsc06320.jpg (91635 bytes)
Tony shows off his Decim8!
dsc06321.jpg (92911 bytes)
And, with GOOD reason, too!  I mean, LOOK at that detail!
dsc06323.jpg (40527 bytes)
Not sure whose this was, but it was one of the first launches.  Good return as we begin our launch!
dsc06324.jpg (42090 bytes)
A nice looking Stingray takes to the air.
dsc06325.jpg (36382 bytes)
The soft grass protected the rocket, even though the parachute could not...
dsc06326.jpg (43304 bytes)
We has a lot of very nice looking birds take to the air!
dsc06328.jpg (51355 bytes)
And a nice crowd on hand as well!
dsc06329.jpg (50099 bytes)
Ed (a friend of mine attending his first launch) gets a few good flights in!
dsc06330.jpg (54495 bytes)
And Scott never fails to have fun and help the whole crowd have fun with him!
dsc06331.jpg (61968 bytes)
A Journeyman shortly before an ill-fated flight..
dsc06333.jpg (93449 bytes)
It's such fun wandering around the field just looking at all the rockets!
dsc06336.jpg (72541 bytes)
Tony places his Decim8 on the pad
dsc06338.jpg (51181 bytes)
She looks positively regal sitting there!
dsc06339.jpg (47206 bytes)
Not to mention, a little bit angry too... LOL
dsc06340.jpg (76752 bytes)
The Journeyman getting closer to a launch assignment!
dsc06343.jpg (51141 bytes)
What a beautiful flight for the Decim8!
dsc06352.jpg (34424 bytes)
Beautiful return as well!
dsc06353.jpg (53908 bytes)
A V2 takes to the air as Boris preps his saucer
dsc06354.jpg (64786 bytes)
A close up of Boris hard at work
dsc06356.jpg (39934 bytes)
This guy (along with a few others) bugged us often on this fine day.
dsc06357.jpg (66153 bytes)
Here are 3 pictures showing the group gathers in Amesbury for the launch
dsc06358.jpg (62935 bytes)
More folks
dsc06359.jpg (59159 bytes)
more rockets!
dsc06360.jpg (26197 bytes)
Journeyman AWAY!  Shortly after launch she began to spin in an unstable manner.  Post-mortem showed at least one crooked forward fin coupled with a loose adapter, leading to serious damage to the forward end.  I will help to get this thing back into flight condition!
DSC06361group.jpg (33541 bytes)
A 5-shot sequence of Boris' saucer spinning into the air, much to the delight of EVERYONE!
dsc06371.jpg (50344 bytes)
The Tesla catching rays on the pad
dsc06372.jpg (56692 bytes)
Looking pretty, awaiting a countdown.
dsc06373.jpg (63013 bytes)
Meanwhile, a doo-Hickey gets loaded up!
dsc06374.jpg (36289 bytes)
Hard to catch these little buggers during boost!
dsc06375.jpg (62135 bytes)
Another picture perfect flight on the Tesla (10 to date on this 3rd proto-type)
dsc06376.jpg (21702 bytes)
Caught this 3's-A-Charm taking to the air.  The breezes carried the 3 gliders at least 300 meters downrange, but we were able to recover them all!
dsc06377.jpg (41619 bytes)
Big and impressive!
dsc06378.jpg (21066 bytes)
A bit snarled coming down, but the soft ground saves the day again.
dsc06379.jpg (33441 bytes)
Another of Tony's birds looking fine on the pad!
dsc06381.jpg (80790 bytes)
There's Tony!
dsc06382.jpg (56470 bytes)
And we have LIFTOFF!
dsc06384.jpg (87187 bytes)
A look into Scott's quirky imagination...
dsc06385.jpg (74097 bytes)
We sure did have a nice group out with us today!
dsc06386.jpg (74575 bytes)
More rockets on display!
dsc06387.jpg (81920 bytes)
What are YOU looking at!??! :)
dsc06388.jpg (88664 bytes)
Our friends from Cosmodrome Rocketry were on hand today
dsc06389.jpg (78163 bytes)
As was AMW!
dsc06390.jpg (32471 bytes)
doo-Hickey AWAY!
dsc06391.jpg (20464 bytes)
And a Whatchamacallit too!
dsc06392.jpg (29011 bytes)
Nice return on a bright streamer
dsc06394.jpg (79055 bytes)
oooooo a Trifecta!
dsc06395.jpg (51602 bytes)
Looking good too!
dsc06401.jpg (21042 bytes)
Well, that is, until it did THIS....
dsc06406.jpg (79334 bytes)
What's not to love??
dsc06407.jpg (60877 bytes)
I think this is Bill's Von-Braun rocket.  Very nice!
dsc06408.jpg (44492 bytes)
My proto "Down the Tubes" ready for its maiden flight.  This is what the ASD beginner class is building this session.
dsc06410.jpg (49838 bytes)
Perfect flight!  We have a winner!
dsc06412.jpg (45741 bytes)
Boris readies his latest
dsc06414.jpg (48515 bytes)
Nice distance shot as I was out recovering the Down the Tubes
DSC06414crop.jpg (36069 bytes)
A close up of that boost reveals the Deuce motor mount in use!
dsc06416.jpg (49088 bytes)
All 17 motors lit, she screams into the air!
dsc06425.jpg (34903 bytes)
Then gently floats back to earth
dsc06426.jpg (38297 bytes)
Such a beautiful sight!
dsc06427.jpg (63085 bytes)
A Cheetah makes an appearance at the launch
dsc06428.jpg (40037 bytes)
Turns in a great flight too!
dsc06429.jpg (31538 bytes)
As does the Corona with the Corona-2 booster accessory!
dsc06430.jpg (71245 bytes)
Ok, this was exciting for me!  One of my kids from our ASD advanced group attended the launch.  He was flying his "6-pointer", which is the model he designed in class during the winter session!  Great stuff!
dsc06431.jpg (74691 bytes)
And we also have a Deuce's Wild ready to go!
dsc06433.jpg (39359 bytes)
The 6-Pointer turns in a picture perfect flight!
dsc06436.jpg (45238 bytes)
Here we have a Rose-A-Roc taking to the air. A problem with the elastic (not taunt enough) resulted in a lawn-dart, but she is easily repairable and will fly again!
dsc06437.jpg (71618 bytes)
We had several Frick-n-Frack kits go up today, but no drag race!
dsc06442.jpg (21472 bytes)
Boosting just fine!
dsc06445.jpg (20714 bytes)
Well, that is, until THIS happened!  I had just discussed with the owner (my ASD student) that he needed strong filets at the fin joints (none were present).  I applied a set of filets with CA, but cautioned that this may not be adequate.  We gave it a shot anyway...  Everything broke cleanly though, and it is easily repaired.
dsc06447.jpg (53475 bytes)
Determined to see a Frick-n-Frack put in a good show, I got mine in the air!
dsc06452.jpg (21538 bytes)
25+ flights in, she still performs!
dsc06457.jpg (76491 bytes)
Oh!  Now we have a modified Frick-n-Frack, with the addition of a 3rd stage!
dsc06458.jpg (75150 bytes)
Interesting looking bird, too!
dsc06459.jpg (60733 bytes)
As dad preps it, his son covers his ears from a loud launch.
dsc06461.jpg (73865 bytes)
And we also see a MAKO gracing the pads
dsc06462.jpg (52291 bytes)
Beautiful flight too!
dsc06463.jpg (36012 bytes)
Up and down, just perfect!
dsc06464.jpg (60029 bytes)
The modified Frick-n-Frack performed well, though the 3rd stage ignited, but didn't separate.  Back to the drawing board, cuz this would have been spectacular, had it separated properly!
dsc06475.jpg (21919 bytes)
Thar be light houses in the air!
dsc06476.jpg (38525 bytes)
The Nantucket Sound gives a good show every time!
dsc06477.jpg (73185 bytes)
Boris with his many clustered Thunderbird.
dsc06480.jpg (57997 bytes)
What a show!
dsc06481.jpg (36327 bytes)
Looking good!
dsc06484.jpg (94194 bytes)
Relaxing at a CMASS launch.  How cool is THAT??
dsc06485.jpg (86116 bytes)
Rocket science, 101A
dsc06486.jpg (77449 bytes)
The Buck Shot ready for flight
dsc06487.jpg (20321 bytes)
And, boy, she DOES fly!
