National Sport Launch NSL-2012!
NSL-2012 marks our
second large event during our 10th anniversary year (the first
was Red Glare, last month). That means that, in addition
to a boat load of exciting model rocket kits, we had cake!
We spent 2 days
driving out, even though it is only an 8 hour trip.
Mainly because my brother and my friend Jim live in
Schenectady, about 4 hours away. Gives us a good excuse
to lay over and spend time with family and friends.
We arrived late
Friday afternoon and, after settling in, we went up to
Rochester to drop off an order to Dan's Crafts and
Things. Early Saturday we headed out to the field and
got our booth set up. This was.slated to be the better
of the 3 days, weather wise, so we decided to serve our cake
then, instead of waiting for Sunday.
As it turned out
though, the Sunday prediction of 60% rain and thunderstorms
turned into a warm, calm and rain free day. In fact, all
3 days were picture perfect for flying!
and I had a great time. I was able to fly a LOT of
rockets, including several proto types, and every flight was
perfect! Well, nearly so... The first launch of
the Decaffeinator wouldn't detach the glider and it rode the
rocket all the way back to the field... LOL
If you see an
image of your rocket, help me identify the rocket, motor and
owner. Also, if you want a high res version of the
picture just send me an email
and identify the picture (filename would be best) and I will
get it right out to you!.
