A nice array of V2's and other scale HPR birds
dsc04737.jpg (85123 bytes)
Our booths towards the Sport Range end of the arena.  There's John with Red River, us (FlisKits) and Carl with SEMROC
dsc04738.jpg (83837 bytes)
Here we are next to Carl.  To the far right you can see the edge of Commonwealth's tent.
dsc04739.jpg (107860 bytes)
Close up of our booth.  That's Kathy's brother Charlie sitting in the back.
dsc04740.jpg (100374 bytes)
Here's my rocket garden for this event.  It's a great way to display rockets so that they don't take up table top space and aren't really bothered by the wind.
dsc04741.jpg (96102 bytes)
Our micro display attracts a lot of attention!
dsc04742.jpg (85424 bytes)
Here it is!  The CAKE!  One of the best so far this year!
dsc04743.jpg (84527 bytes)
Even to the side decorations (the heat/humidity over a 2-day road trip started to cause some of the frosting details to run (those black streaks down the side of the cake)
dsc04744.jpg (93474 bytes)
From the inside you can see our display rack along with kits and t-shirts hanging from the tent skirt
dsc04745.jpg (109045 bytes)
Our on the sport range, the LPR pads were kept busy most of Sat and Sun
dsc04746.jpg (92392 bytes)
Nice crowds kept the range reasonably busy but without long lines.
dsc04748.jpg (38928 bytes)
Even the high power pads saw a lot of action!
dsc04749.jpg (68782 bytes)
Our very own Rob Edmonds prepares to announce the Imagination Celebration.  The frustration (for me) was that it was originally scheduled for Wednesday and we weren't going to be here then so I had nothing prepared...)
dsc04751.jpg (79419 bytes)
First up was a small spinning rocket.  Very kewl!
dsc04752.jpg (34217 bytes)
Not sure who owns this one, but it was a great flight
dsc04753.jpg (32376 bytes)
with a perfect landing!
dsc04754.jpg (76205 bytes)
Next up was my Nantucket Sound.  Always a crowd pleaser!
dsc04755.jpg (47432 bytes)
I've seen this beast fly before so I know it works, but this time it seemed to hang up on the pad...
dsc04757.jpg (110197 bytes)
It was not pretty, but sure was impressive! LOL
dsc04758.jpg (87737 bytes)
A spinning rocket patterned after Boris Katan's spinning saucer.
dsc04760.jpg (78224 bytes)
After about 8 seconds of thrust, this is as high as it got...  The main problem, that I could see, was the use of a full size (3 foot) launch rod.  Once it got about 4 inches up, the vehicle (and rod) started to wobble a LOT and the thing hung up and got no higher...
dsc04761.jpg (70598 bytes)
V'Ger and Santa Claus
dsc04762.jpg (39163 bytes)
Santa seemed to mis-fire the first attempt and when they went to launch V'Ger, up she went! LOL
dsc04763.jpg (27686 bytes)
Great flight though!
dsc04764.jpg (75219 bytes)
Ok, so when Wile E. Coyote walks by the FlisKits booth, what do YOU think he's looking for???
dsc04765.jpg (58182 bytes)
Nice cluster with all motors burning!
dsc04767.jpg (22940 bytes)
The Trifecta turns in a great flight!
dsc04777.jpg (55183 bytes)
Nice boost glider too!
dsc04778.jpg (65206 bytes)
Many great flights.  Lots of fun!
dsc04779.jpg (48202 bytes)
WHOOSH!
dsc04781.jpg (27271 bytes)
Nice recovery too!
dsc04783.jpg (74118 bytes)
Looking down vendor row we had a nice rush of customers.  However, that was the exception rather than the rule...
dsc04784.jpg (61744 bytes)
My Borealis gave us a great UP but not so good DOWN... Parachute snarled in the ring-fins and she lawn darted.  No damage though.  She's a tough little cookie!
dsc04786.jpg (35813 bytes)
An unpainted Saturn V truly looks odd on the pad and in the air.  Bus, she got all 5 motors burning for a great flight!
dsc04787.jpg (52935 bytes)|
One of Gordon's (Sandman) creations puts in an adequate flight on an A8-3.  More Power Gordie!
dsc04788.jpg (56291 bytes)
Beautiful Orbital Transport on a pair of D motors.
dsc04789.jpg (26428 bytes)
Never even saw the white glider against this sky, but the main ship returned gracefully.
dsc04793.jpg (47380 bytes)
Nice flight of my Nell until a snarled parachute sent her crashing into the Estes booth! LOL
dsc04812.jpg (97920 bytes)
We saw lots of FlisKits models flown this week, including Ian's Rock Star!
dsc04813.jpg (85455 bytes)
And the Long Overdue
dsc04814.jpg (56801 bytes)
Which gave a great flight up...
dsc04815.jpg (26529 bytes)
and down!  Perfect!
dsc04816.jpg (37154 bytes)
Another from the HPR cells
dsc04819.jpg (83167 bytes)
Great shot of those V2's.  Just wish that tent wasn't in the way...
dsc04821.jpg (77375 bytes)
A bunch of us went out to dinner.  From left to right we have Dave & Evie, John & Nina, Carl & Sheryl, Mark & Loreta, Jim & Kathy, and Bill
dsc04823.jpg (84403 bytes)
Is he holding UP the tent or trying to take it down...??  LOL
dsc04825.jpg (78296 bytes)
Bill (CMASS) and others enjoying time at the sport range.
dsc04826.jpg (57804 bytes)
Up we go!
dsc04827.jpg (28199 bytes)
Many, MANY perfect flights this week!
dsc04830.jpg (37453 bytes)
A paper Mercury Redstone scratched from the FlisKits Midnight Express model!
dsc04831.jpg (81909 bytes)
Vern and Gleda arrive and begin working on some models with the help of, well, everybody! LOL  John (Red River) hosted them.
dsc04832.jpg (102930 bytes)
Gleda and Vern work on their models as Tom looks on
dsc04837.jpg (65151 bytes)
By this point, Snuggles has about had it with rockets! LOL
dsc04839.jpg (74445 bytes)
Jim gives his best sales pitch!
dsc04840.jpg (88798 bytes)
Working the crowd, well the one...   ...i guess...  'twas a slow day...
dsc04841.jpg (75209 bytes)
Jack stops by to see how the Estes' are getting along.
dsc04843.jpg (63789 bytes)
Even Gordie stopped by!
dsc04845.jpg (85547 bytes)
Vern and Gleda pose with the Flis'.  It's frustrating that we can only get together this one time a year and THIS year it was only for the one afternoon...
dsc04846.jpg (95428 bytes)
Vern and Gleda, with their models preped, get them ready for the pad.
dsc04847.jpg (71279 bytes)
The contest range.  This is as close as I was able to get all weekend and THIS is with a 30X zoom....  LOL
dsc04848.jpg (76361 bytes)
It wouldn't seem like a NARAM without Vern flying a Big Bertha!
dsc04849.jpg (90535 bytes)
I'm thinking sheesh...  One person on one side of the rack and one on the other...  To the frustration of photographers everywhere! LOL
dsc04851.jpg (85307 bytes)
Ok, THAT's better!
dsc04852.jpg (81575 bytes)
Gleda was SO nice to help John back to the LCO table...
dsc04853.jpg (57202 bytes)
Up first was Vern's Big Bertha.
dsc04854.jpg (39599 bytes)
Man, hard to capture a white rocket with a white parachute against a white sky....
dsc04855.jpg (45086 bytes)
Gleda's Sky Writer was next
dsc04856.jpg (28961 bytes)
Great flight, up and down!
dsc04858.jpg (45726 bytes)
Next up was Gleda's Maxi Alpha III.
dsc04859.jpg (23369 bytes)
Perfect flights all around.  As I understand it, these were then slated for the auction block later tonight.
dsc04864.jpg (57490 bytes)
On our way home, we see Snuggles relaxing in the cool comfort of an air conditioned room!
It was a good week, but didn't seem like a NARAM as we were not able to participate in anything but the sport launch area this trip.  Maybe next time!
