dsc04268.jpg (72920 bytes)
Our booth all set up Friday morning.  You can see Steve Eve's Saturn 1B in the background.
dsc04269.jpg (94506 bytes)
Close up of the rocket garden I set up as a display
dsc04270.jpg (87287 bytes)
Our Micro-to-the-MAXX display.
dsc04271.jpg (91447 bytes)
More display kits on the left side of the booth.
dsc04272.jpg (62303 bytes)
LDRS city, to the right of the LCO trailer
dsc04273.jpg (59301 bytes)
And to the left.  While the parking area wasn't full, by any means, there were still a LOT of people there!
dsc04274.jpg (104950 bytes)
I thought my "rocket garden" made an interesting shadow in the sand :)
dsc04275.jpg (68447 bytes)
Here we go!  A Frick-n-Frack takes to the air.  COOL!
dsc04285.jpg (69340 bytes)
The RSO tent.  There's our own Nick Debrita (far right behind the table)
dsc04286.jpg (59655 bytes)
A common sight at LDRS, people looking up!  There's our primary LCO, Greg Gardner
dsc04288.jpg (76491 bytes)
Tim (aka Wild Man) was set up a few rows back, near center (right near the food vendors!  yum!).  If you look closely, you can see his rocket powered snow mobile in the center...
dsc04289.jpg (56393 bytes)
2nd and 3rd row of parking.  Yep, lots of people!
dsc04290.jpg (54210 bytes)
I just love this thing!
dsc04291.jpg (48436 bytes)
Nice view.  Looks like the real thing from this angle!
dsc04292.jpg (20084 bytes)
I'm going to need some help here...  I haven't a clue whose or what's flying with what motor, etc... If you know, send me an email and I will try to update these albums.
dsc04294.jpg (70221 bytes)
Rice rocket on the way to the away cells
dsc04295.jpg (48657 bytes)
We had a LOT of beautiful launches over the 3 days that we attended!
dsc04296.jpg (51160 bytes)
This 500+ pound V2 was wonderful to see fly!
dsc04300.jpg (25160 bytes)
Looks scary real!
dsc04310.jpg (66539 bytes)
Another common sight for the weekend!
dsc04320.jpg (51918 bytes)
The launch just before my Decaffeinator
dsc04321.jpg (39725 bytes)
And then the Decaffeinator.  Man, I've gotten about 30 flights out of this thing now.  She's looking the worse for wear too, I can tell you (most of that tape is duct tape! LOL)
dsc04323.jpg (41754 bytes)
We had several Bomarc, in different sizes, fly all weekend.
dsc04325.jpg (32898 bytes)
Ok, looks like a missed photo with just a wisp of a smoke trail... I thought so too, and almost deleted it until... (next pix)
DSC04325_crop.jpg (19902 bytes)
I zoomed in and discovered that I had caught the darned thing!  Very thin rocket on a VERY high impulse motor that simply vanished from the pad at T-0
dsc04326.jpg (75521 bytes)
Ray's Rice Paper rocket on the pad!
dsc04327.jpg (78474 bytes)
The "fashionably dressed" were in abundance on this day :)  Seriously, you can get one yourself and be the fashion king at your next launch!
dsc04328.jpg (46617 bytes)
It doesn't look like it could take the stress...
dsc04332.jpg (29336 bytes)
But it does!
dsc04333.jpg (61518 bytes)
Nell
is poised to take flight!
dsc04334.jpg (75349 bytes)
The LCO trailer gives them a good view of the entire launch range
dsc04336.jpg (25702 bytes)
An interesting angle to catch the Nell in flight!
dsc04337.jpg (21783 bytes)
She always turns in a great flight too!
dsc04339.jpg (48462 bytes)
Another great flight wow's the crowd!
dsc04341.jpg (50227 bytes)
And off it goes!
dsc04342.jpg (61916 bytes)
A low power version of Ray's "rice paper rocket"
dsc04348.jpg (24491 bytes)
Flies as good as her big brother!
dsc04352.jpg (65898 bytes)
Wouldn't be LDRS without an odd-roc or two
dsc04355.jpg (41986 bytes)
Of course, ROCKET rockets are good too!
dsc04365.jpg (51862 bytes)
My Tres on the power of 3 C6-5's
dsc04369.jpg (27123 bytes)
And this is the last I saw of her...  She drifted out over the river and, PLUNK, there she went...
dsc04375.jpg (38603 bytes)
Man, that song is gonna be the death of us yet! LOL
dsc04376.jpg (32747 bytes)
We had many drag races.  Love'em!
dsc04377.jpg (97675 bytes)
One of two upscale A.C.M.E. Spitfire models on the field!
dsc04378.jpg (70405 bytes)
This gives you a better idea of the size.
dsc04382.jpg (67233 bytes)
Each day more and more Amish folks joined us on the field
dsc04383.jpg (65838 bytes)
A different view of my rocket garden
dsc04384.jpg (55574 bytes)
This is what LDRS city looks like when recovering rockets from afar
dsc04396.jpg (75423 bytes)
Heck, we even had a blue-tongued Skink join in the fun!
dsc04398.jpg (62596 bytes)
WHOOSH!
dsc04402.jpg (59610 bytes)
The highlight of my day was the launching of my UFFO with streamers to mark the cutting of the cake!
dsc04410.jpg (33942 bytes)
She turned in a picture perfect flight, to the enjoyment of all!
dsc04411.jpg (50729 bytes)
The beginnings of the best drag race we witnessed!
dsc04413.jpg (52512 bytes)
It got better and better...
dsc04415.jpg (50770 bytes)
More intense with each passing milli-second
dsc04416.jpg (43875 bytes)
Right about here you began to FEEL the launch
dsc04418.jpg (44986 bytes)
Incredible!
dsc04424.jpg (67903 bytes)
We even had a jet pack!
dsc04425.jpg (40649 bytes)
Bar none, the coolest rocket of the weekend!
dsc04439.jpg (92481 bytes)
My Diminutive Deuce and someone's dooDad ready for flight!
dsc04441.jpg (77122 bytes)
Another vie of the LCO trailer with someone from the Discovery Channel (far left) coordinating with the LDRS crew and her camera crew
dsc04442.jpg (67309 bytes)
A fairly typical low power rack at LDRS
dsc04443.jpg (37078 bytes)
I managed to get a shot of my Diminutive Deuce under the awesome power of TWO 1/8A micro motors!
dsc04444.jpg (62212 bytes)
Moment of ignition!
dsc04445.jpg (44808 bytes)
The smaller of the two A.C.M.E. Spitfires takes to the air.  Incredible!
dsc04449.jpg (46882 bytes)
A spinning Oreo cookie!
dsc04454.jpg (38308 bytes)
Got milk?
dsc04457.jpg (44776 bytes)
Away she goes!
dsc04458.jpg (61230 bytes)
NICE!
dsc04460.jpg (28439 bytes)
A very large wing span on the RC/RG shortly after liftoff
dsc04467.jpg (27044 bytes)
Climbing ever upwards, she's looking good!
dsc04468.jpg (29797 bytes)
Houston, we have a problem.
dsc04469.jpg (26488 bytes)
The higher she climbed the more parts were striping off until she suffered complete wing failure while still under power.
dsc04473.jpg (83825 bytes)
An odd rock from the far-away cells
dsc04474.jpg (30736 bytes)
She looked odd going up and even odder coming down!
dsc04476.jpg (65497 bytes)
Kathy enjoys a good book during a slow period
dsc04477.jpg (64266 bytes)
An upscale Whatchamacallit on its way tot he pad!
dsc04478.jpg (85792 bytes)
this is what you call "sticking the landing"!  Note that one fin has stuck itself firmly into the ground, holding up the entire rocket!  That's my tote there, about 12" from the rocket...
dsc04483.jpg (57169 bytes)
More oddness from the far-away cells
dsc04489.jpg (81595 bytes)
A.C.M.E. Spitfire #2 under N power!  YEAH!
dsc04490.jpg (35117 bytes)
Man! She looks good!
dsc04497.jpg (27292 bytes)
Nice speed.  Nnice altitude too.
dsc04501.jpg (37531 bytes)
Here she is, coming back to earth
dsc04502.jpg (48044 bytes)
With the nose cone not far behind!  Perfect flight!
dsc04508.jpg (49184 bytes)
And our own (CMASS) Boris with his high powered saucer.  A saucer like no other!
dsc04512.jpg (42512 bytes)
Lifting herself out of the exhaust plume, she wowed the crowd!
dsc04518.jpg (36814 bytes)
One of a whole family of HPR space men (and women) to fly this weekend
dsc04524.jpg (34070 bytes)
Great flight, up and down!
dsc04525.jpg (60307 bytes)
THERE HE IS!  Boris with his lower powered saucer.  I actually like this one better as you are closer for its flight.
dsc04526.jpg (32460 bytes)
My Tiddlywink takes to the air on micro power.  I had a lot of problems, from ejected motors to broken elastic, over the course of the day.  After 30 or so flights, she needs some TLC to get her back into flight form.
dsc04527.jpg (29292 bytes)
Boris' saucer turned in a great flight
dsc04531.jpg (34686 bytes)
Wild Man's Grandfather Clock on the away cells
dsc04532.jpg (45737 bytes)
This looks like a phone commercial...  I got 3 bars!
dsc04533.jpg (24939 bytes)
Another attempt with the Tiddlywink!  This was when the elastic broke.
dsc04534.jpg (70262 bytes)
By Sunday, we had a rather large audience of Amish folks who set up a small theater-like arrangement of seats near the flight line!
dsc04536.jpg (52283 bytes)
Very cool!
dsc04537.jpg (67508 bytes)
And away she goes!
dsc04538.jpg (95583 bytes)
Posing with an upscale of the Rock Star.  Very cool!
dsc04541.jpg (43105 bytes)
She flies as good as she looks too!
dsc04544.jpg (27523 bytes)
A gentle landing is the best you could ask for.
dsc04545.jpg (87224 bytes)
Tim drives his snow mobile out to the pads.  This is just too much! LOL
dsc04546.jpg (84329 bytes)
Meanwhile, back on the LPR pads, we have several rockets, including my Borealis and Nantucket Sound
dsc04547.jpg (43297 bytes)
The Borealis is always a crowd pleaser.
dsc04548.jpg (71530 bytes)
Of course, so is the Sound!
dsc04549.jpg (28318 bytes)
Such pretty flights!
dsc04550.jpg (56104 bytes)
Almost missed this one!
dsc04551.jpg (87350 bytes)
Our shade proved to be of great value!
dsc04561.jpg (41493 bytes)
Red Solo Cup pyramid takes to the air again!
dsc04562.jpg (41286 bytes)
Great flight!
dsc04563.jpg (114203 bytes)
Snuggles, watching the action from the safety of our booth.
dsc04564.jpg (66703 bytes)
Gotta love them sparkies!
dsc04567.jpg (92391 bytes)
This was just TOO cute an image not to post.  He is clearly smitten and she seems to be considering...
dsc04569.jpg (49813 bytes)
Busters Revenge takes to the air for a perfect flight!
DSC04569crop.jpg (35238 bytes)
Here, you can clearly see the personification of Adam Savage strapped to the rocket
dsc04570.jpg (38373 bytes)
"Take THAT, Mr. Savage",  Buster is probably saying LOL
dsc04571.jpg (26007 bytes)
Great flight though, up and down!
dsc04572.jpg (69134 bytes)
Any BAR would appreciate the feel of this picture...
dsc04575.jpg (55997 bytes)
Ok, so we have a snow mobile on the pad...
dsc04576.jpg (52957 bytes)
LOOK'IT her go!
dsc04577.jpg (54868 bytes)
Well, sorta... after about 100 feet, she just dropped out of the sky...
dsc04578.jpg (83433 bytes)
Pretty kitty we saw on our way from the field on our last day.
dsc04579.jpg (96156 bytes)
LDRS was great fun but we're as tired as can be!  Now to head home to get ready for more launches in the coming days and weeks.
