dsc05818.jpg (75926 bytes)
Light set up on this last launch of the year with a nice display of proto's I plan on testing
dsc05820.jpg (76119 bytes)
Close up of all the micro proto's (with the exception of the Stinger).  Going to be a busy day!
dsc05821.jpg (96645 bytes)
Modified Celtic Thunder booster proto.  Last launch the booster came in ballistic (stable) so I shortened it in the hope of de-stabilizing it.
dsc05822.jpg (49376 bytes)
Nice view from beneath.  That booster looks SO cool!
dsc05823.jpg (78597 bytes)
And we have liftoff!  As with last week, a perfect boost, perfect stage separation and...   ...another ballistic entry for the booster...
dsc05825.jpg (52125 bytes)
Beautiful glider takes to the air.  Today was a PERFECT day for gliders!
dsc05827.jpg (33016 bytes)
Don't get prettier than this!
dsc05828.jpg (39778 bytes)
Can't recall whose this is, but man that is sharp looking!
dsc05832.jpg (71740 bytes)
And we have a Corona-2 combination getting ready!
dsc05833.jpg (91381 bytes)
As well as a 2-stage Nomad getting checked in.  (scaredy cat!  Where's that first stage!??! LOL)
dsc05834.jpg (64056 bytes)
On the field booster modification for the Celtic Thunder booster.  I set the ring fins at the CG of the booster body, with a spent motor casing.  SUCCESS!  The combination worked perfectly and the booster tumbled rapidly and descended very slowly.  A new accessory for this winter!
dsc05835.jpg (36771 bytes)
The Corona-2 gives us a great flight!
dsc05837.jpg (54486 bytes)
Gosling (tentative name), a micro Drake, sits pretty on the pad!
dsc05838.jpg (80118 bytes)
Beautiful jet style rocket with a 2 motor cluster!
dsc05839.jpg (36734 bytes)
Looked great going up AND coming back down!
dsc05840.jpg (39022 bytes)
Darn near missed the Gosling in flight!  These things SCOOT!  Perfect flight, up and back.
dsc05841.jpg (44416 bytes)
Tony with one of the new kits from Estes.  Beautiful!
dsc05842.jpg (60275 bytes)
One of Claude's creations takes to the air!
dsc05843.jpg (39988 bytes)
Another micro proto flight, the Aggie a 1/8A Marble Loft model.  This has flown with a marble payload several times.  Today I was testing it without a payload.  Great flight!
dsc05844.jpg (116183 bytes)
Next up was another test of one of my 2-stage designs.  I don't have a name for this one yet...
dsc05845.jpg (44610 bytes)
But she does fly great!  Perfect stage separation.  However...   ...you simply should NOT have to walk THAT far to recover a micro rocket! LOL
dsc05846.jpg (54882 bytes)
We got buzzed by a plane and Ken hollered "anyone get the number from that plane?"...  ...here it is :)
dsc05847.jpg (69596 bytes)
One of several Cheetah kits to fly on this fine day!
dsc05848.jpg (91179 bytes)
The Micro Nantucket Sound sitting pretty on the pad.
dsc05849.jpg (53149 bytes)
This is the one I've been waiting for myself!  Can't wait to see how she does!
dsc05850.jpg (49204 bytes)
I was NOT disappointed!  Simply perfect!  Arrow straight flight to about 50 feet where she hung for a moment then deployed her streamer and landed about 8 feet from the pad.  Yeah, I'm loving THIS design!
dsc05853.jpg (43881 bytes)
Next up is the Mighty Saturn V!  At 1:1000 (approx) scale, she isn't all that imposing, but WOW!
dsc05854.jpg (78640 bytes)
A dad and his boy ready to launch their Thing-a-ma-Jig!  Cool.
dsc05855.jpg (36435 bytes)
This Saturn V flies SO well!  Should be a kit this winter, so keep watch.
dsc05856.jpg (67745 bytes)
Thing-a-ma-Jig away!
dsc05857.jpg (77232 bytes)
Now, ain't THIS cool!?  Called the Frick-n-Frack-Piggy-Back
dsc05858.jpg (89935 bytes)
For this flight, the top rocket is a dummy as they want to first test the stability of the combination.
dsc05859.jpg (81203 bytes)
For me, the next one up is the Traffic Cone.
dsc05860.jpg (73486 bytes)
Tony launches his ARC-1824 with 4 drop-off boosters, as Bob H. looks on!
dsc05861.jpg (34788 bytes)
Simply wonderful!
dsc05862.jpg (95590 bytes)
The Bucky Jones getting ready for a flight.  I missed the launch though...
dsc05863.jpg (40318 bytes)
What a cool little flyer!
dsc05864.jpg (45307 bytes)
Ok, so Boris WOW's us again!  Should call this rocket "Seasons" as it burns up a seasons worth of BP in one flight!  A 2-stage beast with over 30 motors in the booster alone!
dsc05865.jpg (42603 bytes)
Now THAT'S an exhaust flame you can be proud of!  Perfect flight, all the way!  Perfect staging and deployment!  I think it was a total of 75 24mm motors in that thing!  Incredible!
dsc05875.jpg (48753 bytes)
Next up in the micro world was my Space/Time Continuum.  A modified micro Celtic Thunder with swept back fins.
dsc05876.jpg (35449 bytes)
Another perfect flight!  Today was the day of micro for me and I was having fantastic luck!
dsc05879.jpg (70946 bytes)
Finally time for the Frick-n-Frack-Piggy-Back!
dsc05880.jpg (71473 bytes)
I got several wonderful pix of this flight and have posted several of them here!
dsc05884.jpg (35716 bytes)
Arrow straight boost on a B6-0
dsc05886.jpg (36979 bytes)
Approaching booster burn out...
dsc05887.jpg (44665 bytes)
The moment of separation!  You can clearly see the blow-through of the booster as the sustainer just begins to ignite!
dsc05888.jpg (43330 bytes)
The booster drops away as the sustainer climbs to apogee!  Simply perfect in every way!
dsc05889.jpg (80796 bytes)
A Proxima Centauri is heading to the pad!
dsc05892.jpg (90941 bytes)
Let's see.  Hook this clip up here and that one over there...  That should do it!
dsc05894.jpg (37302 bytes)
I missed the launch (nuts!) but got a nice shot of the return.  Perfect!
dsc05896.jpg (65416 bytes)
Another Cheetah puts on a show!
dsc05897.jpg (28511 bytes)
A Drake (Dave's?) gives us a great flight!
dsc05898.jpg (117871 bytes)
Another 2-stage micro (BT-3 based) called "Doubles" ready to go!
dsc05899.jpg (68707 bytes)
We also saw a couple of dooDads show their stuff today!
dsc05900.jpg (39795 bytes)
Doubles off the pad in a hurry!
dsc05901.jpg (106429 bytes)
Stuck the landing!  My first ever failure of a micro staging...  Bummer!
dsc05902.jpg (108658 bytes)
Next up is the Micro Celtic Thunder!
dsc05904.jpg (45275 bytes)
As one of Tony's models streaks past the CMASS flag.
dsc05905.jpg (89876 bytes)
We all love Boris.  We really do!
dsc05906.jpg (117644 bytes)
What can I say...   ...Man...
dsc05907.jpg (71431 bytes)
The High Power pads were kept busy today!
dsc05908.jpg (36188 bytes)
Perfect flight of the Micro Celtic Thunder.  Love it!
dsc05909.jpg (27796 bytes)
Another dooDad with an arrow straight flight!
dsc05910.jpg (61013 bytes)
As well as this beast with a boat load of wood dowels for fins.  Have seen these before but don't know much about them.  Cool though :)
dsc05911.jpg (85034 bytes)
My last flight (attempt) of the day, the proto K'Tng'A with a C6-5
dsc05912.jpg (69748 bytes)
Burn, baby, BURN!  Folks, that's as high as she got...  She hung up on the pad.  Bummer, man.
dsc05913.jpg (67942 bytes)
But the most humiliating is when it pukes the chute...
dsc05914.jpg (73799 bytes)
We actually had a pretty nice crowd today, and this picture was taken after it had thinned out a bit!
dsc05915.jpg (61201 bytes)
An Over Drive gives us a great flight too!
