Wenham Museum, Wenham, MA
I worked with the
Wenham museum this summer, helping them set up a space theme
exhibit in the museum along with hosting a rocketry building
The classes (two
of them) were open to the public, with a limit of 20 per
class/group. Parents were encouraged to join their
children, to help make this more of a family event than
anything else. We had ages as young as 5 and as old as
14, so there was quite a range of ages in a single group,
adding new challenges.
Each child built a Whatchamacallit
kit. Since we only had 1 hour to build, with the intent
of flying it that afternoon, I pre-assembled the engine mounts
the night before. This knocked a lot of time out of the
build and also assured that the mount was completely dry
before we tried to install it into the body tube.
wonderfully well and we actually had very nice weather to fly
in! In fact, most of the rocket prep was done in the
shade as the sunny spots were a bit too warm!
If you see a picture of your child,
in this photo album, and want a
full size (high resolution) version, just drop me an email
and I will get it right out to you. Be sure to include
the photo file name so that I know which photo you are talking
