CMASS - First Launch of 2009!
was a cool launch! Well, actually, it was a COLD launch!
Our first launch
of 2009 met us with temperatures in the mid-low 20's where it
tried to warm all the way up to freezing, but couldn't quite
make it... Not put off by the cold, CMASS members and a
few local spectators showed up for our coldest launch of the
year (so far...). At one point we had nearly 30 cars
along the road and at least 20 different people flying
everything from Micromaxx to G power, clusters, multi-stage,
even an R/C B/G and a couple of spools.
As cold as it was,
it was nearly a dead calm all day (which really helped) and
the flying couldn't be better. Of course, the landing
area could have been softer (ice is HARD!). And it was
like walking across a skating field just to get to the launch
I didn't fly
anything today as I've been too busy to get anything ready,
but came to support the launch and meet up with all my rocket
buddies from CMASS. Yeah, it was a good day of rocketry!
