![]() A little bit of glue and we're all set! I didn't take as many build pictures as normal as I was very busy with two class levels at the same time! |
![]() Proud of their creations, the boys pose with their naked rockets. |
![]() You can clearly see how truly integrated these classes were with Triskelion and Long OverDue kits side by side. |
![]() A flurry of activity as we approach the end of our second week of building. |
![]() As I have come to expect, many of these rockets are very well painted with a great deal of pride in their workmanship! |
![]() The first launch of the session is always something special. How so? Listen for yourself by clicking here! |
![]() I DID THIS! "Proud" only begins to describe how these kids feel! |
![]() Rocketeers, friends and family always come out on flight day. This session we had picture perfect weather and a good excuse to sit and enjoy the sunshine! |
![]() A creatively painted Long OverDue. |
![]() Not everyone had the time to paint their models, but they sure weren't going to miss LAUNCH DAY! |
![]() Even without paint they look and fly great! |
![]() This was one of the more creatively painted rockets |
![]() Younger and older, beginner and experiences, all had fun and learned new things (like it or not!) |
![]() Here's that creative paint job at the MOMENT of ignition! Listen to the reaction of the crowd! |
![]() Bright gold made for a simple but beautiful model... |
![]() ...that flew as pretty as she looked! |
![]() This picture reminds me of a Warner Brothers cartoon where someone is trying to hide behind something MUCH too narrow for the task... :-) |
![]() But you can't hide the fact that we ALL had fun! (Man, I have got the best job in the world :-) ) |
![]() Triskelion's away! |
![]() During the demo part of the launch, I attempted to fly my Pheord X150 in 2-stage mode with one of the Triple Threat models. In this case, the motor blew its nozzle resulting in a messed up rocket. Bummer as I had recently lost my new Pheord X150 and this was the original proto-type of the kit... |
![]() This top view better shows the damage to the two rockets. It was a total loss for both of them. |
| That concludes the first half of our class. During the second half, since we only had one build day, two concurrent classes and a new rocket was being used for the first time in a class environment, I didn't take any pictures. Below you can see the results as we launch our creations! |
![]() We made a point to put one each of the level 2 and level 1 kits on each pad. Here we see the first pair of rockets, the Corona on the left and the Thing-a-ma-Jig (TamJ) on the right. Not to mention a pair of very serious looking rocketeers! |
![]() Painted and unpainted, it is all good! |
![]() The TamJ takes to the air! |
![]() More creative paint jobs! |
A close up of the TamJ from above shows it covered with signatures. Apparently my bringing in my autographed Decaffeinator earlier had effect as this one is signed by the rocketeers classmates, friends and family. WELL DONE! |
![]() Straight as an arrow goes the Corona! |
![]() Down for a perfect landing. This was harder than you might think as this was a VERY windy day and we had to share the field with ball practice meaning we were very limited with how we could angle our pads to keep models from flying over the ball players. |
![]() TamJ away! This model turns in perfect flights time after time as the fins are guaranteed to be perfectly straight every time! |
![]() More wonderful workmanship and yet MORE attempts to hide behind a skinny rocket. |
![]() Corona away! |
![]() Near-field recovery, wonderful! |
![]() More perfect flights from the TamJ. Actually a good day with the kids staying with A motors mostly, we only lost 2 and one of those was atop the school which is easily retrievable with the help of the janitorial staff. |
![]() You can just SEE the pride on these kids. Already they have asked for a yet MORE advanced class, so that is in the planning stages now. |
![]() Model rockets always look best in the air as that is when they are happiest! |
![]() And a good chute is an important part of that happiness! |
![]() Nearing the last launch of our class. |
![]() The last two get ready. It is always a bit sad once we realize we are all done. |
